An endorsement from former Kettle Moraine School District Superintendent Pat Deklotz

Dr. Patricia Deklotz, Superintendent of Kettle Moraine School District, said this: “As a superintendent, there is a constant struggle to balance and align resources to meet ever increasing needs. Our teachers work so hard. But the social and emotional needs of many kids cry out for attention and giving the ideal level of individualized help is not feasible for classroom teachers. We have lots of needs that we can’t meet. The Oasis Project stretches the boundaries of what teachers can do. Many people in the area aren’t aware of how many kids in their midst need such help. And, because the area has higher income, the schools don’t qualify for aid or for programs that are focused on places where poverty is more common. Oasis volunteers not only address academic deficits, they meet social and emotional needs of students by demonstrating to these kids that they matter, they can accomplish great things, and they are valued as an individual.”
